About: Henna

Henna is one of those ladies that long back to a nostalgic time. Everything she lays her eyes on gives her the feeling of a forgotten time that will never again be as it was. This feeling of always living in the past and clinging to it really inhibits Henna from living in the moment and live her life to the fullest. She does love that feeling of nostalgia when it appears around her almost everywhere she looks. One is tempted to say that she is happy living her life in a perpetual feedback loop, but if there was a way to measure total happiness between minds then one would clearly see that Henna is way below the average happiness score. Her longing feeling takes much more space in her mind than what other feelings are given. Being a ROOMIE with such a strong attachment to the past gives Henna also some positive qualities that are rare in quantity. Being in the past when experiencing something for the first time can help determine if this new experience has any worth. The more she feels, the more she knows that this experience is a keeper and so she has developed great intuition which helps both herself and others find their way through life.

About: Siina

Mild and intense are two words that describe Siina very well. She is a ROOMIE that likes to take things easy. She avoids stress at work, while cooking and in her interactions with others. This is true except for when she is playing games both together with others and alone. She truly loves playing around, and when she starts it is as though a car shifts gear because she goes into hyper drive. She is so invested in the game and the world that the boundaries of games can create that she completely loses herself in them. It is almost as though it is not a game anymore when Siina really gets going. For many ROOMIES this can be too intense, but more often than not, playing with Siina becomes this larger than life experience where everything is somehow more important than if she were absent. Her behaviour is so contagious that most ROOMIES can’t help being as invested as she is. This of course leads to some truly epic playing. Once the game ends, Siina returns to her calm and mild self, not recognizable from before.

About: Arthur

With swagger and smugness he takes each step one after the other. Arms dangling limplessly on either side. Arthur always wants to be on top of both fashion and style, and always wears the latest and greatest designer outfits. From week to week he can change his slang in such drastic ways that a foreigner might mistake him for speaking multiple languages. One might actually say that he, from week to week, changes his cultural background and heritage not in terms of his own life’s story understood in a linear temporal fashion, but to how the world around him responds to his different appearances. Arthur might be the most amazing science object in all of social studies, but he himself has little interest in actively participating in any field of research. He holds on to his highest love in life, fashion. He is also very particular about interactions with the environment. He might stumble and stop dead in his tracks if he spots the potential for dust to be lifted from the ground due to small changes in air pressure from passers by, and land on his magnificent Delta/Carbo shoes. Nothing is to touch or interfere with perfection, because style isn’t just made, it’s also kept.

Nitro Ocean – Spartan Beetles I

This piece is part of my collection “Spartan Beetles,” which shows photos of VW cars in various places in Thailand. This project came from a passion for the curvy shape and simplicity of VW vehicles.

In the 1970s, The beetle is already cemented in history textbooks as an icon of the time. Still, you may not know that it has donated its propulsion mechanism to an actual working horse in the developing world.

This piece combines photography and visual effects to tell deeper feelings between the car and the places around me in my hometown.

I took this photo in 2014 at Wat Phra Kaew, Bangkok, Thailand, and I did the video editing in August 2021. First in my Spartan Beetles Genesis Collection.

About: Liam

Liam had one dream his whole life. From infant to adult there was only one thing that permeated his mind. This was to travel across the 8 mountains that separate his village and the ocean. His grandfather had told him stories about a rare water bird only found on the shores far away. This bird supposedly had golden feathers with many tiny red dots on each of its wings forming somewhat of a crest with the likeness of a hand. The hand crested water bird was what Liam used to call it, although the crest might only have been one random configuration of how the dots were spread on this particular bird that Liams grandfather was referencing from a book he had seen when he himself was just a little boy. But the vision was still clear for Liam. As he grew older this desire grew and grew until he finally made up his mind, and set out to cross the eight mountains and finally get a true glimpse of the water bird. The day he set out was a foggy one. With the air silent and moist he started heading toward the mountains. Very soon though he found himself alone and cold in the wilderness. The day had barely begun and the sun hadn’t even risen, but Liam felt alien in this new world. This was not right. This was not how the experience was meant to feel. Without particular hesitation or regret he turned around and came back home. He kicked his shoes off and flung himself on the couch. His grandfather stood in the doorway still wearing only his morning robe, asking if Liam had found what he was after. Liam replied with a satisfied and content “yes”. He had finally found the hand crested water bird.

KATA & KLAIN – “No Freaking Token”

As South American artists and art teachers we cannot avoid to discuss Art as a way to tell History, that has in the vast majority of cases resulted in only the winner’s side version of it.
To understand Art History has usually been, to us, to access a western , Europeanized, white and white sided way to tell the History of our world: how should we see the native people, how should wars conflicts be recalled and whom is even worth of being remembered at all.
NFTs today might offer a gateway to freedom of expression and to the, not yet, represented minorities through the musical, visual and even audiovisual artistic languages. On the other hand the blockchain logic and the NFTs marketplaces seem to result in just a new trading system offering not much but the promise of financial freedom at a very high aesthetic and ethic cost: the illusion of equality and freedom in a world still kneeling before financial power.
At this point, would any token represent Art at all?
