Alex Pilote – Mechanisms -part A, part B and part C (triptych)

For this work, I tried to be inspired by the artists Joan Miro and Alexander Calder… Both were great friends, and Calder’s early mobile sculptures were directly inspired by Miro’s paintings.
My goal was to combine Joan Miro’s automatism with the sculptures of his friend…A sort of hybrid between the mobiles, and the huge black steel outdoor sculptures found all over the world (called ‘Stabile’)
In fact, Mechanisms (part A, part B and part C) is an attempt to realize a hybrid form between the two main styles of Calder… (The digital file could one day be used for the realization of a monumental sculpture in bronze. The shape is articulated, which would allow the sculpture to be positioned in different ways).
This drawing is done in pastel and colored pencil, on acid-free paper (26 x 42 inches)
Afterwards, the realization of the finished product uses new technology and computer graphics. I make my own materials and textures using nodes, with Blender software. By proceeding in this way, I manage to control the finish of the textures in a more personal way, and which allows a lot of originality…

Camblin Gllery – “A Collection of Fragments” by Houston artist Bob Camblin

“What fascinates Bob Camblin is clearly the complex and very delicate relationship between image and language. All his works have strange or fantastic titles – titles that considerably deepen or modify the perception and understanding of the picture. His landscapes, which are often vistas, with nothing mysterious or intriguing about them, can even at first sight pass as conventional works; but they take on a quiet different connotation such as with the digital mosaic “A Collection of Fragments.”

Examined more closely A Collection of Fragments contains a universe that reveals itself very slowly: Look for the anthropomorphic figures. The illusion becomes evident when you begin to understand Camblin’s diaphanous figures. Camblin wants us to understand that our experiences are a collection of fragments. That they are a process until they no longer belong to us; they are simply automatic – random and found images in process until they are stopped by removal from the mind’s coastline. We are all simply collected driftwood, flotsam and jetsam, in someone’s treasured collection of worthless objects.

ALStudios – Low Tide #1

“Low Tide” is a series of 3 Black & White Photographs inspired by the underwater kingdoms that only reveal themselves at low tide.

I wanted to create a mixture of ethereal blurs & textured details, so I used ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) Photography to achieve this look.

The final edit was inspired by one of my favourite 35mm films, Ilford FP4, this gives the image a high contrast look that adds to the ethereal feel of the image.
