The story is about a beautiful young woman named Mae Nak, who lived on the banks of the Phra Khanong Canal, and her undying love for her husband, Mak.

With Mae Nak pregnant, Mak is conscripted and sent to war (in some versions of the story the war is against the Shan tribe, while others are not specific), where he is seriously wounded. While he is being nursed back to health in central Bangkok, Mae Nak and their child both die during a difficult childbirth. When Mak returns home, however, he finds his loving wife and child waiting for him. Neighbors who try to warn him that he is living with a ghost are all killed.

One day, as Mae Nak is preparing nam phrik, she drops a lime off the porch. In her haste to retrieve it, she stretches her arm to pick it up from the ground below. Mak sees it and at last realizes his wife is a ghost. Terrified, he tries to find a way to flee without alarming her.

That night, Mak says he has to go downstairs to urinate. He then runs away into the night.

The House of Stairs [ST001] is organized in a simple square and has a classical floor plan. A twist in the organization of the stairs creates a unique flow when exploring the space. The dark metal facade and bold volume invite to come closer. Inside, the light reflects on pink gold walls illuminating the soft white marble interiors. This design is an ideal space for art shows or exclusive dwelling in the virtual world.

I made Divine Souls during Holi festival in India. Devotees from all over India came in to get just one glimpse of their beloved Krishna at Banke Bihari temple and play Holi with him. I had a shot in mind & I could only get that from above & through long exposure. I had a 5 minute window to make this shot because photographers weren’t allowed upstairs for long. I managed to capture the colorful chaos & devotion of people. This photograph got published on National Geographic story “From Above”

No matter what age we grow up being a boy/girl Young man/woman, grandfather/grandmother, we all want a little happiness each day. Eating ice cream is one of the symbols of childhood. It’s the easiest thing to make people feel happy. People’s faces when eating ice cream often make me see the boy/girl in them. It’s like a moment of childhood coming back.
